Lose
weight
Most of us
need to lose a few pounds. Some need to gain a few. Optimal weight is very
important because it supports better health, better attitude, better
self-image and confidence. It is difficult to know what your optimal
weight is since “an optimum” can mean different things to different
people. There is one very simple rule that can
be used:
Look
at yourself in a mirror. If you can't tell where your collarbone is, you
are very much overweight. If you can't see the whole length of your
collarbone, you are lightly overweight. If you can count your ribs, you
are underweight.
There are many diets out there that you can follow to help you achieve
your optimal weight. You should choose the one that fits the best your
taste, your life style, and most importantly, the one you will stay with
for a long time. With any diet you choose there are few general rules to
follow.
 |
All diets need to be followed for a
long time. The best diet is the one that changes your life style
forever. |
 |
Eat only if you are hungry. Try to
have 3 small meals and 2 smaller snacks a day. Do not eat after the
certain time in the evening (8:00pm is a good mark). |
 |
Don't eat while watching TV,
reading, or using your computer. Pay attention to the food you eat,
respect it. Eat slowly and chew well. Drink a lot of water, at least 8
glasses a day. All other drinks should be enjoyed only occasionally
(once a week, or once a month are good options). |
 |
Pick good quality foods. It is
better to eat fresh uncooked fruits and vegetables than canned or
cooked ones. Prepare your food yourself. Love and effort you put into
it will make it taste better. Avoid foods that contain sugar, white
flour, and processed oils. |
 |
The most perfect snack in the world
is an apple. Other fruits will do too. |
 |
Limit the size of your meal. Don't
make more food than what you are going to eat. |
 |
Don't buy too much food. You should
not have more than a 4 to 5 days supply of anything. |
